Bold monochrome Ikat with a black background and off-white spot. This is a beautiful, light to medium weight cotton.

Ikat is a resist dyeing technique where the threads used for weaving are dyed beforehand.  The Ikat threads are bound in a pattern so that the threads covered by the binding ‘resist’ the dye, creating a design.  The more binding done before weaving, the more complicated the pattern. Suitable for dresses, tops, shirts, and looser fitting trousers or shorts.

Fabric is sold by the 1/2 yard (you may order multiples of 1/2 yards; all yardage us cut as one continuous length.)

  • 44" (114cm) wide.
  • 100% cotton.
  • circle size 2" (5cm)
  • Wash at warm, with a non bio detergent on a gentle spin.  Always pre wash your cloth before sewing to get rid of any shrinkage and set colors.
  • For the first couple of washes, place the fabric in the washing machine on warm with a handful of table salt. This will help fix the dye to prevent it running.
  • Indian cloths are sometimes susceptible to irregularities in the weave, this is all part of their charm and are not classed as flaws.
