Bold monochrome Ikat with a black background and off-white spot. This is a beautiful, light to medium weight cotton.
Ikat is a resist dyeing technique where the threads used for weaving are dyed beforehand. The Ikat threads are bound in a pattern so that the threads covered by the binding ‘resist’ the dye, creating a design. The more binding done before weaving, the more complicated the pattern. Suitable for dresses, tops, shirts, and looser fitting trousers or shorts.
Fabric is sold by the 1/2 yard (you may order multiples of 1/2 yards; all yardage us cut as one continuous length.)
This fabric is great for patterns like our 104 Egyptian Shirt, 112 Japanese Field Clothing, 113 Japanese Kimono, 142 Old Mexico Dress, 145 Chinese Pajamas, 157 Moroccan Djellaba, 158 Ghanaian Smock, 148 Black Forest Smock, and 271 Sunset Wrap.
